BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM
ELEVATE
Boehringer Ingelheim needed to attract specialist talent.
We started by elevating the people already there.
THE CHALLENGE
Boehringer Ingelheim had ambitious plans to transform their drug development process and needed to hire over 300 new medical experts to make it a reality. As part of the talent attraction strategy, the company needed its leaders to take personal responsibility for employer attractiveness and actively engage with prospective talent. The question was how to make that happen authentically and at scale.
THE APPROACH
Research from LinkedIn showed that employees' networks are 10x larger than their company's, and messages shared by employees travel 561% further than the same message on a brand-owned channel. That insight shaped our approach.
We developed an employee advocacy programme called Elevate, designed to raise the profile of Boehringer Ingelheim's people and, in doing so, improve the attractiveness of the company to prospective talent. Working with a selected cohort of leaders from across the business, we developed bespoke content based on each person's interests, background and professional experience. Content creation support was provided where needed, and personalised posting schedules and guides were created for each participant to build confidence and consistency.
THE IMPACT
Elevate turned senior leaders into active advocates for the business. The cohort produced a strong and consistent volume of content that drove meaningful engagement across LinkedIn, generating thousands of reactions and comments. Crucially, the programme delivered tangible recruitment outcomes, driving tracked clicks to job listings, a measurable uplift in social media applications and, ultimately, direct hires. Personal networks across the cohort grew significantly, extending Boehringer Ingelheim's reach well beyond its owned channels and creating a lasting pipeline of visibility among prospective talent. What started as a leadership activation became a scalable model for turning employee voices into one of the company's most powerful recruitment tools.
